Rocky Balboa is back in the gym.

In the first trailer for Creed II, the iconic character (played by Sylvester Stallone) was noticeably absent from the actual boxing scenes, instead seen mourning his late wife or worrying about Adonis’ (Michael B. Jordan) safety in the ring. But in the first official photos from the upcoming sequel, the boxer-turned-trainer returns to his roots.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and written by Stallone, the sequel to the hit 2015 film finds Adonis Creed fighting for redemption and his family’s legacy when he takes on Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who killed Adonis’ father during a match in Rocky IV. And while he’s training with Balboa in the first photo, Adonis’ mentor doesn’t appear to be present in his corner as he prepares to fight in a second photo.

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a new photo from Creed II featuring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis and Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa.

Creed II will reunite Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa as Adonis trains for a fight with the son of Ivan Drago, the boxer who killed his father, Apollo Creed, over thirty ago. Now, a brand new photo from the film features Rocky and Adonis standing side-by-side as the young fighter prepares to begin the fight of his life.

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., Creed II stars Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu, Andre Ward, Phylicia Rashad, and Dolph Lundgren. Stallone also penned the script and Creed director Ryan Coogler served as an executive producer.

Creed II will be released in theaters on November 21, 2018.
Billy Batson’s life is completely changed after his first encounter with the wizard Shazam. Given an assortment of abilities, Batson transforms into the hero Captain Marvel (well, he used to transform into “Captain Marvel,” but now he also uses the name “Shazam” so DC can avoid legal problems with Marvel Comics) whenever he yells the word “Shazam!”

While many superheroes have ridiculous powers, most of the time their abilities are never truly explained. Often times a character is an alien or subject to a terrible accident that results in them obtaining powers (think Spider-Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc.), but Batson is different. Instead of just channeling the power of Shazam, Batson is connected to six different mythological figures — gods and humans — in order to become the ideal hero. “Shazam” may just look like a fun word, but it’s actually an acronym that pays homage to each key figure who makes up the power of Shazam!

he son of King David, Solomon is the only one of two non-godly entities on this list. Considered one of the wisest Israeli kings, Solomon was an extremely wealthy individual who is considered one of the world’s 48 prophets. In the New Testament, Solomon is even praised by Jesus as a particularly wise individual who does a good job spreading his values. While he doesn’t have any super powers, the character’s wisdom often helps Billy Batson as he determines how best to use his abilities as Shazam.

It’s time to get back in the ring. Creed II feels like both a movie that is way overdue and a movie that managed to sneak up on us. The first movie was the return to the Rocky series with a new angle and was a critical and commercial success back in 2015. Now we have two new images courtesy of Empire Magazine:

Star Michael B. Jordan also pointed out how this movie is different from the first in that there is a clearly defined antagonist this time around.

“That character was so huge in Rocky IV,” Jordan said. “We didn’t have a real villain or an antagonist first time around. It was more or less an origin story. This time we’ve found the perfect vehicle to build on that.”

Creed II is hitting theaters right in the middle of one of the busiest month of the year. We’ll have to see if it gets lost in the insanity or manages to carve out a space for itself like the first one did.

One of the movies that you can really look forward to coming out this fall is Creed II. The first one (which came out in 2015) revitalized the Rocky series into something new. It also helped kickstart the careers of Tessa Thompson and director Ryan Coogler from the indie world to the mainstream. Coogler is not returning for the second movie, but it seems to be just as good as the first one.

Entertainment Weekly has released to new image from the movie and it features Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) and Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) standing in a corner of the boxing ring ready to take someone on in a fight.

For the first time, developer and publisher Survios will offer to preorder for one of its VR titles, as well as a physical copy of the game on PSVR.

I’ve tried this game out and it’s quite realistic. You swing at your opponent in VR, and you can hit or miss. If you land to blow or not, you get sweaty. And in that sense, the game achieves the rare goal of getting a gamer off the couch in the name of exercise and fun.

If you preorder, you can get an exclusive avatar and a theme pack for the game, which is based on the 2015 Creed movie, starring Michael B. Jordan. The story follows Adonis Creed, are of heavyweight champion Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies. Creed II debuts, with Jordan reprising his role, on November 21. The early release of the Creed VR game could raise awareness for the film.

The VR game will debut on other platforms, but the dates will be released at later times.

“For so many game developers whose homes proudly showcase our console collections, being able to add our own title to their ranks means the world,” said Mike McTyre, Survios’s head of studio, in a statement. “We’re proud of what we’ve created with MGM and Sony, and we’re excited for everyone to step into the ring and become a champion.”

In the game, you experience the ascent of Adonis Creed, trained by Rocky Balboa in familiar gyms, including Mighty Mick’s and Front Street Gym. Then you step into the spotlight to take down seven champion-level opponents in boxing matches.
