The Mexican actor Demián Bichir will star along with the British Andrea Riseborough the new version of the horror film "The Nun", informed the specialized media Variety. Sony studio plans to take up the stories of this series of feature films that began in Japan with the director Takashi Shimizu. The Japanese director was also in charge of reinterpreting his own films for the Hollywood market in the films "The Grudge" (2004) and "The Grudge 2" (2006), both with Sarah Michelle Gellar ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as a star of the cast.
On this occasion, the filmmaker Sam Raimi ("The Nun) will be one of the producers of the project to relaunch "The Grudge", which will feature Nicolas Pesce ("The Eyes of My Mother", 2016) as director and screenwriter. Bichir, who was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for "A Better Life" (2011), premiered last year "Lowriders" and "Alien: Covenant", the new Ridley Scott film about the universe of "Alien".
In addition to "The Grudge", the Mexican has among his future projects the science fiction film "Chaos Walking", together with Tom and Daisy Ridley; "The Nun", a feature film from the horror saga "The Conjuring"; and the American adaptation of the Spanish series "Gran Hotel", a project in which the Latin actress Eva Longoria is also involved.
A Londonderry actress who gave up her dream of Hollywood to become a nun has finally made it to the big screen two years after she died in an earthquake in Ecuador. The film All Or Nothing was made by Sister Kristen Gardener (31) as a tribute to her friend Sister Clare Crockett and features footage from 120 interviews conducted with people around the world and relatives here at home. Speaking in the documentary, Sister Clare's mother Margaret says "everything she done was drama".
"Pat is a small fry in comparison," Mr Murphy said. "She's not a prominent person in terms of public denunciations of the government." Mr Murphy, who most recently travelled to the Philippines in February, says the detention centre where Sr Fox is being held is "a cage jammed full of people." "It's a horrific location," he said. Australia's foreign affairs department "is aware an Australian woman was arrested in the Philippines", a spokeswoman said.
"I spent months on my iPad gathering old pictures and videos of Clare and travelled to Ireland to interview her family," Sr Kristen added. Sister Clare entered the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother after making her vows at the age of 18, a year after her conversion during a pilgrimage in Spain. It was there she formed a friendship with Kristen who become a nun in the same order. Sr Kristen said God definitely has a sense of humour and is helping to promote the tribute to her friend, who was epitomised by her "all or nothing" attitude. "She found true happiness in Him and now He is giving her what she once thought she needed," she said.
